BOSTON — Tommy Pham is out of the lineup for the third straight game, but he’s available off the bench Sunday night against the Boston Red Sox. The Mets do not plan on placing him on the injured list because MRIs are not showing any sort of damage that would lead them to believe this injury will require the outfielder to take 10 or more days off. However, they did just play two games with a short bench. The injury occurred the day before the All-Star break in San Diego, which was two weeks ago.“He’s getting there,” manager Buck Showalter said Sunday afternoon at Fenway Park before the series finale against the Red Sox. “He’s a lot more available than what he had been.”Pham did not travel to Boston with the team Thursday night, instead staying back in New York to have the groin evaluated again. He underwent imaging after returning from San Diego during the break and was cleared to play against the Los Angeles Dodgers last weekend. It’s going to be a hot and sticky week across the region, according to the National Weather Service, as warm humid air settles over New England generating dew points that will have some parts of the state sweltering with the feel of triple digits. After seemingly endless days of rainy weather, the state should mostly dry out this week. However as the weekend approaches the region will head into its first multi-day 90-degree stretch of the year, with dew points making it uncomfortable or dangerous to be outside.“The humidity and dew points are going to be very high. With dew points climbing back towards about 70-degrees that means the apparent temperature is going to likely exceed 100-degrees for portions of metro west,” Kristie Smith, a meteorologist with the NWS, told the Herald on Sunday.According to Smith the weather service hasn’t yet issued any heat advisories for those days but by Monday or Tuesday they’ll most likely issue warning against prolonged outdoor activity and a...Anthony Rizzo ends homer-less drought as Yankees sweep the Royals

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Anchor Brewing is open to a purchase offer from its employees but warned that time is running out as the 127-year-old trailblazer of craft beers prepares to cease operations, the San Francisco company said in a statement over the weekend. Spokesman Sam Singer confirmed Saturday that Anchor Brewing Company had received an email from Anchor’s union representative that workers are launching an effort to purchase the brewery. The effort is on behalf of a group of employees and not the union itself. He said the company would “gladly consider” an offer should they make one that includes “a verifiable source of funds.” But Singer warned that time was running out and the company will move ahead with liquidation in early August. The interested workers said on social media Saturday that things were moving fast and promised more information when available. “Overwhelmed with the responses for help. Rice is a staple for billions of people around the world but India has imposed a ban on the export of non-Basmati white rice products. A Toronto South Asian grocery store says it is already feeling the pinch, leading to a spike in panic buying. “What happened in the last couple of days, it’s only a panic purchase,” Salam Hasan, general manager at Mississauga’s Iqbal Halal Foods, tells CityNews. “We used to have enough for three to four weeks. The stock was sold in just a couple of days. Hasan says for the time being the popular South Asian grocery store has implemented a restriction, allowing each family to buy just one bag of rice. “The previous experience with India, last year, lasted around one month. If you think about one month – banning the export of a particular item – remember, there are a lot of containers at sea coming our way.” According to Sriram Ramamurthy, the business development manager overseeing rice imports at...Latest news
